Tree Removal

One night in Mancelona there was an intense thunderstorm with a lot of wind. A maple that was already half dead in the field next to the house snapped. The next day I took a little saw and cleaned it up. I cut the big pieces into firewood and through the small branches and leaves into a brush pile.

I appreciate that these guys always let me sit in for a tune or two. We played my tune ("Night in Cullowhee"), an Eddie Harris number, and then "Sweet Georgia Brown." The Fourtet was cookin' all night, with guest Trevor on bass. The energy level on some tunes, like Monk's "Well You Needn't," for example, was punk rockish. L to R: Me, Tyler, Trevor

Piano Recital, June 6, 2010

I think this is the best I've played at a recital. The mistakes I made could probably only have been noticed by somebody familiar with the score. Here I'm playing "Lovely Weather, Heather."
