and set up the zone defense! I'm the green blob coaching in the background. My girls are wearing the white jerseys.

One of these stogie-smoking, shotgun-wielding, good-looking Norwegians ...
was my grandfather, Charles Amble. He is the youngster on the left. From him I inherited my calm demeanor. Googling him, I found out that he has both an elementary school and a library named after him. The cocky looking fellow in the middle is his older brother Seaver, who went on to become sheriff of Clare County, Michigan between 1939 and 1952. On the right is Elmer who, my mom tells me, worked for years at the Clare County Road Commission.
The photo was probably taken around 1910.

The Dragons, East Lansing, 1988
My brother Steve on drums. We were a decent band with a unique sound that we called "Mediterranean Rock." The singer/guitarist was charismatic and wrote good songs. My brother and I formed a propulsive rhythm section. We played bars and parties in the Lansing/East Lansing area, and our fan base was mostly graduate students from Spain.
