yeah, doing anything down around Cedar River would be at the top of my list. I was down there a couple years ago, where the twin tubes go under the dirt road, and it was still exactly the way it was when I was a kid.
jim, I'm impressed that you recognized the woods; the photo was taken only like a half mile from the tubes you mention. Down that road a little bit, then a right into the Antrim Co. woods.
I feel like I grew up in that very area. My uncle and my dad both had cabins on the river within a half mile of there, my cousin lives near the Belaire end of that road now. It was the only place we ever went mushroom hunting, and the most likely place to trout fish, swim and canoe. Of course I recognize those woods. haha
Jim: I don't mind being the Anti-Dandy! (Here we sing Paul McCartney (you) and Stevie Wonder (me) "Ebony and Ivory ... live together in perfect harmony ...")
Spocko: I'm thinking of a question for Ask Evil Spock ... I'll just sip on this Guiness while I mull it over.
In the meantime, maybe hang on to your pesos. $30 a pound seems a little stiff. Maybe one day you'll be able to pick some mushrooms yourself!

Hangon isn't OCTOBER the time to hunt mushrooms?
Gled, I suppose it depends where you're hunting them. In Northern Michigan the morels are out in late spring. There are brownish ones and white ones. The taste is so delicate that you'd be a fool to hide it under garlic. Just sauté them with butter and serve them with steak or venison. I have to stop now. I have a pot roast on the stove, and some potatoes in the oven that need my attention. What? Do you live in the Southern hemisphere or something?

Gled, don't you live in London?

I just noticed how white your page is! It's like the total opposite of mine.
You are the Antidandy!
Muahaha
Morels are big here in Bloomington, and yet I've never had one.
They're $30 for a pound at the local Co-op sometimes. I need to splurge.
