I think he was playing Ellington's Canadian anthem, "Take the Train, eh?"

David Amram and band. The bongo player (solid, by the way) is an organic farmer by profession.

Like Rahsaan Roland Kirk, dude can play two instruments simultaneously.

I think he talked as much as he played. But he was a fascinating speaker, reminiscing about Kerouac, Mingus, Eugene Ormandy and Native American Music, tirades against electronic music, sermons about creativity ... What a guy!

thank you (and your spousal unit and issue) for some fine photos in addition to a wonderful article
I am glad that you had a good time and appreciate your writing about it.
I am at home for a few days, after playing Farm Aid with Willie Nelson and Philadelphia folk festival and on the way to MOAB Utah for a festival there as composer-in-residence and non-stop activities all listed in my web page.
But grateful to be here and able to do it, as i also am working on my 4th book and two new concert pieces while on the run.
All cheers from that endless road and STAY CREATIVE
