Straddling the hemispheres, Ecuador (2006)

I have one foot in the northern hemisphere (the left foot) and one foot in the southern hemisphere (the right foot) since I am facing east. Unless I'm facing west, in which case my left foot would be in the southern hemispehere and my right in the northern.

this makes me wonder, does Ecuador translate to equator? I only just now noticed the similarity. I ain't as trans continentally traveled as you.
also, did you pierce your ear after crossing the equator? it seems there was an old sailor tradition of something of that sort.

Yes, it does. Funny you should ask about the earring. I wore it for years, then one day I was playing in an intramural basketball game and the ref said, no jewelry. So I took out the earring and played the game. After the game I couldn't find the back of it. So I never put it back in. I'm thinkin' of replacing it with a black hoop. You got one? I got the hole in my ear but no ring.

By the way, thanks for linking to me and my radio show on the planet.
